It has been fantastic to welcome all the children in 2H back to school this week and to hear about all the exciting things that they have been up to over the holidays! We have wasted no time in getting back down to work and I have been very impressed by the children's enthusiasm for our new topics.
In Literacy we have begun a study of traditional stories from around the world by reading a classic tale known to many of you I'm sure, 'Chicken Licken'. The children quickly learnt some of the main features of traditional stories and were able to identify them in the text. The children enjoyed reading different versions of the story and acting them out in small groups. They went on to create their own puppet shows, planning their characters and scripts to match the particular version they were given - take a look below!
We had a great day on Wednesday making a strong start to our new Topic, 'Exploring the World'. The children had fun making their own maps and using them to explore the playground. We will have man more fun activities coming up, including an extremely exciting field trip after half-term!
We have been working hard on the 'wr/r' sound in phonics and related spellings will go home on Monday.
