Thanks to all the parents who were able to come and look through the children's books with them. The children really love doing this and I hope you were impressed by their hard work thud far this year! Also, thank you for the many positive comments, it is much appreciated.
This week we have begun to study non-fiction texts, specifically looking at fact books of various bugs and mini beasts. This will link to our Explorers topic as we study Captain James Cooke's voyage to Australia and some of the magnificent 'discoveries' that he made there.
The Music Soiree was a triumph once again, with a huge number (over half!) of Year 2 children taking part. I am pleased to say that 2H was well represented, and a special 'well done' and thank you goes to Kevin, Nicole, Charlotte, Sze luck, Haley, Felix, Alicia, MiMi and Zongxu for their fantastic performances.
On Friday we were lucky enough to have a real-life author come to visit us, Neil Griffiths. He was very funny and told us some great stories!
Next week we will continue to learn about bugs and also other animals. Over the weekend please choose 3 bugs from this site to learn about in more detail (click on bugs):
http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/kids/animals/creaturefeature/
What do they do?
What is special about them?
What do they eat?
What tries to eat them?
What is their natural habitat?
If you would like to make some notes to present to the class on Monday that would be great!
