This week in Literacy we have begun to look at explanation texts, using non-fiction books to identify common features such as the Contents, Index and Glossary pages. Please ask your child about these - what are they used for and where can they be found? We will continue with this topic over the next couple of weeks as, due to preparations for our up-coming Christmas performance, some of our Literacy lessons face a little disruption.
This is a special time of year for children around the world (I'm sure we all enjoyed Halloween!), but particularly in the UK. Around 5th November (Bonfire Night) it is traditional for people to build bonfires and burn 'Guys' to remember the story of Guy Fawkes, who along with a group of rebel conspirators, attempted to blow up Parliament and kill King James in 1605.
Please have a chat about this at home - we have also been talking about the dangers of fire and fireworks in school.
