The elephants had to find out about Zheng He ALL BY THEMSELVES! They were given lots of statements about him and challenged to put his life events in order!
The children had a fun afternoon finding out about the traditions of Chinese New Year. At each information point there were fact sheets to read, film clips to watch or stories to listen to, with the children taking notes as they went. These facts were made into a fabulous leaflet, full of facts and colourful pictures!
The children spent time making their blossom tree pictures, carefully blowing ink across the page with a straw to represent the boughs of the tree and decorating with crepe paper blossom.
After discovering Australia with Captain Cook and realising how many weird and wonderful insects live there, we are focusing on bugs to help our poetry and art! So far we have covered a balloon with papier mache (glue and paper! very messy!). Once it was dry, we cut the balloon in half and stuck it to a piece of card. Embellishments such as eyes, antennae and legs were added, covered in goo and eventually painted! Wait and see our finished bugs! |
