We have begun to start on our art project for FoD. The children have been working very hard on their individual pieces which we are going to arrange into one final design. Have a look at a few of the photos!
This week the children have been working really hard on a couple of pieces of writing. Firstly the children wrote a long story entitled 'The Magic Pebble' in which they had to imagine that they had found a magic pebble and this either took them somewhere special, or changed them into something new. The children all tried really hard with these stories and I was really pleased with the results.
The second piece of writing the children were working on was entitled 'What am I?' in which they had to write a series of clues about a chosen four legged animal for us to guess. These were very interesting pieces and the children worked really hard on them.
Well done Giraffes!!!
This week we have been looking at grammar. We have reviewed our use of adjectives and adverbs, and have started to look at similies and metaphores. The children have had a chance to make some of their own similies and to design a person according to their description - their pictures were very interesting!
We also had a chance to make up a group story in which we all had to use an adjective in our sentence. This proved to be trickier than it sounded!
To extend our literacy lessons we have been learning to draw in the style of Quentin Blake, the illustrator of Roald Dalh's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We had an excellent attempt, our efforts on are display in the classroom inside our Willy Wonka Booklets!
Welcome to the Giraffe Class
