The children have had a busy week exploring this book. As an introduction to the story we listened to it being read to us. The children loved the different voices and the expressions used by the 'reader' and this gave some of us a chance to reflect on how we read!
We have had a chance to work in groups to retell the story using the puppet theatre, in which the children all did a fabulous job demonstrating their understanding of the text.
As a focus we have also looked at 'time words' which we can use to move our stories on, and some of us had a go at using these in our own adapted versions of Five Minutes Peace.
Below are some pictures of our 'freeze frames' or 'Still images' where we acted out a part of the story and froze in position. Can you guess which part of the story we are demonstrating?
a - Mrs Large relaxes in the bath, the children watch from the doorway.
b - The children sit in the kitchen eating breakfast.
c - Mrs Large lies in the bath whilst the children read books, play recorders etc.
d - The children all jump into the bath with Mrs Large.

We have also had a go at making puppets and then used our puppet theatre to retell the story... see our efforts below!
