As part of our poetry unit we have been creating shape poems based on winter. Another element was performance poetry. We decided to link this to Christmas, rewriting and adding actions to the classic song 'Frosty the Snowman.' The children thoroughly enjoyed the activity. As part of our literacy work this week, we have been learning about the gunpowder plot in 1605 where Guy Fawkes and his fellow 14 other plotters tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament. As we were learning about the event, we came across many new words which were entered into a glossary.
The children are challenged to find out what the words mean and to find different contexts that they can be used in. A house point will be awarded for each correct sentence. Good luck!
