As part of our poetry unit we have been creating shape poems based on winter. Another element was performance poetry. We decided to link this to Christmas, rewriting and adding actions to the classic song 'Frosty the Snowman.' The children thoroughly enjoyed the activity. You can watch the performance by clicking on Frosty's picture or by downloading the Quicktime file below. Right click on the link and select 'Save target as' if you're using Windows and 'Download File' if you're using a Mac OS.

As part of our literacy work this week, we have been learning about the gunpowder plot in 1605 where Guy Fawkes and his fellow 14 other plotters tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament. As we were learning about the event, we came across many new words which were entered into a glossary.
The children are challenged to find out what the words mean and to find different contexts that they can be used in. A house point will be awarded for each correct sentence. Good luck! The list of words are:
To get the classroom looking amazing and to get the children excited the mums of 2B, AKA super mums, have been helping the children create wonderful Aztec patterns that represent the class' nation for UN Day, Mexico! Photos to follow shortly...
As part of our topic we are teaching the children about the need for a balanced diet. We have been identifying different types of fruit and this week we will be talking about dietary needs and the food we consume in school. WARNING- Snack boxes will be scrutinised as part of this :-) Below are the wonderful photos from our fruit salad lesson. We identified and discussed the different fruits then chopped them up to make wonderful designs on our plates. We ate our salads and described how they tasted... yum, yum! The boys and girls of 2B would like to thank their wonderful parents who helped in the organisation and delivery of the lesson. A special mention for Polly (Joshua's mum) who carried out a wonderful demonstration on how to cut-up a mango. Thank you to Cynthia and Esther for helping organise this excellent experience for the children. Welcome to 2B's Wonderful Weebly!
On this page you will find out about being happening in the classroom and more importantly, what your children have been learning about. Photographs of activities will be uploaded for you to browse through and can be shared with friends and family so that they can be kept up-to-date with your son's and daughter's educations. |
