This week we are focusing on division methods. You can do repeated subtraction, as in this photo or sharing. We used number lines and practical equipment to help us.
Some people have very good knowledge of their multiplication and division facts which helps them calculate quickly. You should at least know your facts for 2,5,10 times table and corresponding division.
We will also be doing division with remainders using these same methods.

Division with remainders
We applied the same sharing methods to numbers that don't divide equally. We also used number lines to found up or down in jumps then saw what was left- the remainder. See photo.
A couple of tricks we discovered were that when you times by 10 you add a zero to the answer e.g 7x10= 70 so as division is the opposite, when you divide by 10 you knock off a zero e.g 70 divided by 10 = 7.
