In maths this week we have been looking at different kinds of measurement including weight and length. We talked about grams, kilograms, centimetres and metres.
If you would like to talk about this further at home you could weigh different items in the house, or take your child shopping and show them how much a bag of apples weighs and costs or you could do some cooking at home and talk about the different measurements of the ingredients.
This week we learned that
500grams is the same as saying half a kilogram
1000grams is the same as saying one kilogram
1 cm is smaller than one metre.
100cm is the same as saying one metre.

We have been practising creating and using number lines to work out a variety of number equations such as "Ben has 23 toys and Tom has 32 toys. How many more toys does Tom have than Ben?". We even practised questions with numbers over 100.

We have also been looking at questions such as "Look at this equation what could the missing numbers be? _ + _ = 15

We also reviewed 3D shapes. Remembering the names of familiar shapes such as cube, pyramid, cylinder. A game you could play at home is eye spy with my little eye something the shape of a cube.
