This week in maths we have been doing a variety of number problems and in line with our explorers unit we had opportunities to look at a bunch of different maps. Did you know from looking and comparing different maps we can learn new things about cities, without even needing to go there? Such as how many parks they have, if it is a busy city, if there are hills or lakes. We discovered that maps have many and varying uses and are lots of fun to look at. If you have any maps at home, bring them out and have a look to see what you can discover!
The types of questions we have been doing in class will be reflected in next week's homework. Students are strongly encouraged to draw or write the strategies they used to get answers to questions. Drawing and explaining builds knowledge in mathematical thinking.
Here is some vocabulary and skills we have been talking about and will be talking about next week:
Compare, order, larger, greater than, smaller, less than, between, halfway between, difference between, symbol, penny/pence (p), pound (£)
