As mentioned in last week's post, we are encouraging students to learn their 2, 5 and 10 times table. Students already know how to count up by 2s, 5s and 10s, now they are being encouraged to remember them as times tables. Please look at last week's post for ideas.
This week in maths we have been doing more number stories such as "Ms Lindel goes to the shop to buy 45P worth of apples. She gives the shop keeper 50P how much change does she get?". You too can try these kinds of questions at home. I also encourage you to have your children play and explore money over the holidays. You could even have them pay for items at the shop and check the change.
To help solidify our knowledge of the value of money and exchanging coins, we have also been playing a game called the raft game. Photos below. Please ask your child how to play the game. You can also make a version of this at home if you like and play it at home.
