As an introduction to division and multiplication, we are learning about halving and doubling numbers. The students are currently being taught about the relationship between the two; they are inverse operations.
Example:
Double 18=36
So, half of 36=18
We will be building on this by acknowledging that doubling is the same as multiplying numbers by two and halving is dividing numbers by two.

By the end of the work week the children will be finding halves and quarters of shapes.
