Block C2: Handling data and measures
This week and the first week back after half term, we will be working on number lines and measurement. The unit starts with an introduction into reading scales when numbers are displayed in differing intervals; like on weighing scales. The children will be asked to collect data by measuring length using millimeters and recording their findings in tables of information. This data will then be interpreted and conclusions will be made. On Wednesday the children will investigate whether the tallest children in the class always have the largest feet too. They will use the information they have compiled, share it and gather more from others, then answer the question using the data they have massed and interpreted.
Throughout this week the students will be continuing to consolidate the work they began last week; doubling and halving numbers using the written methods taught.
