This week we have continued to work on our 3D mini beasts - using paper and masking tape to create body parts for our creatures. Some of us decided to work as a team and some of us as individuals, but everybody showed great creativity in their ideas. Miss Ding and I were so impressed - we didn't need to help at all!
This week we have begun to learn about Amelia Earhart. As we have now studied three explorers we decided to do some comparing. We created a Venn diagram and then thought of all the things we knew about Amelia Earhart, Zheng He and Captain Cook. The children then picked out which things were common to all the explorers, common to two explorers and unique for each explorer; placing the facts accurately on the Venn diagram. This week we have started a new topic on Traditional Tales and this time we are concentrating on the work of Hans Christian Anderson. we have begun reading The Little Match Girl and have really concentrated on how adjectives are used to help create an image in the readers mind and how different characters have differing points of view. We used drama to help us with this, by pretending to be two characters in the book at a key moment. We then took photographs of the 'Freeze Frames' we created and talked about the images we had created. We also thought carefully about the motives behind these characters' actions and debated whether the characters were good or bad. What a great job Tigers - I'm so impressed with your deep thinking and the way you have engaged with this text! |
