The children have been finding out about food groups, which foods we need to help us grow and keep our bones strong, food that gives us energy and all those delicious foods that are full of sugar!
Hotseating!Some very brave children volunteered to 'become' the characters from "A Quiet Night in" to answer questions from the rest of the class! AdjectivesThe children listened to the story to spot the amazing adjectives that Jill Murphy had used. Come and read our dazzling display! An adjective is used to describe something. Its not just a sock, its a SMELLY sock! Challenge!Can we tell the story of "A Quiet Night in" without using the book? Each child said a sentence and passed on to the next person, can your child find their part of the story? Read on and find out! 'Once upon a time, there was elephants. It was Mr.Large's birthday. They got to go bed early. So they had a shower. Then they put on their pyjamas. They decorated the table. They made pictures on the table. Daddy just wanted to sit in front of the TV. They ate on trays. The children wanted a story. Dad was fast asleep. Then Mummy elephant read them the story. When the children saw their Mummy fast asleep they put a blanket on Mummy and Daddy. Then the children brung the trays. They made a mess. They went upstairs to bed". Good points! The class can retell a story. The class can sequence a story correctly. Things to work on! Does your sentence make sense? Can you use an adjective to describe things? "Stories with a familiar setting"We will be reading a few of the stories by Jill Murphy, starting with 'A Quiet Night In'. The children were introduced to the Large family, can they remember the baby elephants names? We worked out the beginning, middle and end of the story and made our own story boards! |
