For homework this week you will be required to play a game of concentration using your knowledge of doubling. When you turn a card you will get a number, you then have to turn another card to try and find its matching number sentence.

Instructions
To play, cut along the solid line and place all rectangles face down. One at a time, each player will turn over two cards. If the visual matches with the doubles facts, the player is able to keep the cards. If the visual does not match the cards, they player must return the two cards to their original position. Continue playing until no matches are left to be made. The player with the most matches by the end of the game wins!

For homework this week, the children have been asked to complete the sheet and display their knowledge of time. They need to think about what time things happen in the school day. One area that many of the children found challenging was 'quarter to.' Please practise this at home.

When you have finished your homework, you may want to try one of the games below to test your skill! Let me know how you get on.

Homework 4th March, 2013

For homework the children have been asked to find how much change should be given from one pound. An example is below. The car costs 10p so if a person paid 1 pound for it they would need 90p change.

Picture
When there are prices that do not involve 0 units we solve the problem as follows.

Example:
65p+___=100p (1 pound)
65p + 5p=70p (next ten)
70p + 30p = 100p (one pound)
30p + 5p= 35p change
