Money
We have been doing various activities with money, handling coins and working out change when we go shopping!
Today we worked out which coins we would need to buy something. We used the least number of coins we could!
'You have 20p. A bar of chocolate costs 13p. How much money do you have left?"
We chose the method that we like the best to find the answer. Some of us used our fingers or dots, a 100 square or we 'counted back'.

Word Problems
"A lollipop costs 5p. You buy 2 lollipops. How much do they cost altogether?"
The trick to solving problems is to draw a picture!

Days of the Week.
Your child may know which day comes after today but can they chant the days of the week, continuing over 2 or even 3 weeks?
We made a garland of the days and joined them all together!

Position
This week we have started a new unit and have been thinking about position and the language of direction. The children have been acting as 'robots' and having to follow directions, we have also been following directions to secret locations throughout the school, and writing directions.
More positional language work!
One person in the team was given a secret mission to direct the rest of their team to a secret location in school!
We used language such as "go straight ahead, turn right, turn left, go up".
