This week we have been exploring how 2+2+2+2 is like saying 2x4 or 4x2. Students also noticed that 2, 5 and 10 times tables is just like counting up by 2s, 5s and 10s. Students have been asked to learn, off by heart, the 2, 5 and 10 times tables over the Christmas holidays. Please help your child learn these by creating times table posters for their room, practising the times tables and asking a variety of number stories such as "I go shopping to buy 2 bananas, 2 apples, 2 oranges and 2 tomatoes. How many fruits and vegetables do I buy altogether? Show how you can get the answer in 3 different ways". The answers may be drawn, using addition equations and multiplication equations.
